How To Make Apple Coffee Cake

 This apple coffee cake recipe is made with brown sugar, apple butter, raisins, white flour, vanilla extract and eggs. The best part about it is that it’s so easy to make!  Enjoy this delicious treat on a fall morning!

 

How To Make Apple Coffee Cake

Ingredients
For the cake
Cooking spray
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 c. sour cream
2 medium sweet-tart apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and chopped
For the streusel topping
12 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 1/2 c.
 all-purpose flour
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch kosher salt
Powdered sugar, for topping (optional)


Directions
- Mix together: 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (or allspice). Grease the sides of the slow cooker or baking dish with melted butter or shortening. Pour this mixture into the dish.  Add 3 tablespoons warm water....  Pour this mixture into your batter mixture.
- Pour batter into your prepared dish, cover with aluminum foil and place in the slow cooker on LOW for 4-5 hours...
...add more water if necessary.
- Mix together - 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt. Once it's thoroughly mixed, add in 1/2 cup melted butter or shortening (NOT salted and NOT unsalted and NOT whipped), 4 tablespoons milk (any kind), 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 4 tablespoons sugar (NOT packed) and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Pour this mixture into your cake batter in the slow cooker at least 30 minutes before you want to serve it.
